Electric vs. propane forklifts: how to compare
Compare electric and propane forklift requirements for the workplace, charging or refuelling, duty cycle and total ownership cost.
Read the guideCompare manual and powered pallet movement with stacking equipment for the task and distance involved.
A pallet jack moves suitable pallets close to floor level. A stacker adds a lifting function for appropriate storage tasks. These are different jobs, so define whether you need horizontal transport, stacking or both before selecting equipment.
Record pallet entry openings, fork length, load dimensions and the distance travelled per shift. Note gradients, lift gates, thresholds and surface condition. The pallet and the equipment must be compatible.
Consider frequency, distance and the workplace’s ergonomic assessment. Powered equipment still requires appropriate training and a suitable route. Do not assume a hand pallet jack is appropriate for every load simply because its rated weight is high enough.
For a stacker, include lift height, rated capacity at that height, aisle space and the geometry of the pallet and racking. Confirm whether support legs, forks and the load can physically enter the intended storage position.

For some ground-level movements it may be appropriate. It cannot replace a forklift for tasks beyond its lifting range, rating or operating conditions.
A pallet jack is primarily for low-level movement. A stacker lifts suitable loads to storage heights within its rated limits. Check pallet compatibility and the exact required height.
