Planning forklift delivery in Canada

Prepare the details needed for a forklift freight quote and safe receiving arrangements at a Canadian workplace.

The practical answer

A forklift delivery quote needs the actual machine’s transport weight and dimensions, pickup and delivery locations, site access and unloading arrangements. Delivery dates and costs should be confirmed for the specific equipment and route before purchase.

Identify the transported configuration

Ask for the transport weight and dimensions of the actual truck with its battery, mast, forks and accessories as shipped. Establish whether components travel separately. The equipment’s lifting capacity is not its transport weight.

Describe access at both ends

Provide postal codes, receiving hours, access restrictions and available manoeuvring space. Identify low clearances, narrow approaches, shared yards or site booking requirements. The carrier needs this information to choose a suitable transport and unloading plan.

Agree who handles unloading

Confirm the unloading method and the parties responsible. Do not assume a receiving forklift can unload the delivered machine. The route, ground conditions and equipment ratings must suit the handling task and be planned by competent people.

Prepare for receiving

Nominate a receiving contact and agree the process for checking the machine against the order, noting visible condition and collecting the documentation. Keep transport documents and photographs where appropriate. Clarify how damage or a specification mismatch should be reported.

Answers before you buy

A few good questions.

Need to talk through your application? Send us your equipment brief.

Is forklift delivery included in the advertised price?

It depends on the written quote. Ask for freight, unloading, taxes and any access-related charges to be stated separately.

Can I get a delivery date from a city page?

A city guide cannot confirm availability or a transport booking. The specific machine, route and receiving arrangements must be reviewed first.
